About ASW Forestry
ASW Forestry is a Middle Georgia forestry consulting and rural land company built on long-term relationships, practical experience, and independent advice. While the ASW Forestry name is relatively new, the forestry practice behind it has served landowners since 1968.
A Forestry Tradition Since 1968
1968 — John Atkinson
Established the forestry consulting practice and began serving landowners throughout Middle Georgia.
1994 — Atkinson & Smith Forestry
Billy Smith, who had worked with John, purchased the business and continued the practice as Atkinson & Smith Forestry.
1998 — Trey Waller Joins the Company
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Trey joined Billy Smith in 1998, beginning a career with the practice that would eventually become ASW Forestry.
2020 — ASW Forestry
Trey purchased the business from Billy Smith, establishing ASW Forestry and continuing the relationships and traditions built over more than five decades.
Many of the families we serve today have been clients for 30 or 40 years, with some relationships dating back to the earliest years of the practice.

Evan Shuman

Our Approach
ASW Forestry works for the landowner. Our recommendations are based on the property, the timber, current markets, and the owner's objectives—not on selling a particular product or directing timber to a particular buyer. We believe good forestry comes from sound information, competitive markets, careful field work, and relationships built over time.
